January 5th food journal

Well, it seems that I couldn't stop feeding my face to take time to post what I was eating....if that makes sense. Not really sure what triggered the eating frenzy last night, but I will try to keep an eye on it so if it happens again I can compare notes and see if there are similarities that set it off. I felt really on track until dinner hit. I don't recall being hungry, maybe it was just being tired. Not sure.

B: Morning breakfast sandwich on 100 cal english muffin with egg beaters

S: Fiber One cottage cheese and a vitatop

L: Boca burger and a bowl of veggie soup

S: Kashi bar and a clementine

D: (pre-dinner "snack", if you can call it that, it was more than a meal in itself)pretzels and peanut butter, chips and salsa, piece off the sourdough loaf that is for dinner.

(dinner) veggie soup with sourdough toast, ice cream with hot fudge sauce

Can we say I was stuffed? Yup, but we are moving on. Since I am writing this post on the 6th, today is a new day and I am not dwelling on the events of the previous evening.

2010 Goals

Here's a start. Additional thoughts will be added as they come to mind.

1. Eat more fruit by picking a fruit for the week.

2. Try a minimum of two new recipes each month.

3. Make weekly meal plans capturing any new recipes.

4. Exercise 4 times each week and begin training to work from walking to running and eventually running a 5K.

5. Learn more about vegetables and their seasons. Try to incorporate seasonal veggies into the weekly menus.

6. Keep a daily food journal and post the journal for accountability. It won't be perfect, but it can be used as a tool to identify triggers, etc.

2010: A Fresh Start - Establishing Goals

I am always amazed that one day can change the attitude of a whole world. Why is January 1 a fresh beginning to all? I know that it is the start of a new year, but, in all reality, any day can be the beginning of a fresh new start for anything. While I don't have a answer or a good explanation for this question, I will be following the normal trend to use the start of the new decade to begin a new journey.

I have set a plan to blog about my desire to lose weight while getting healthy. Food has been so many things for me in the past, but in reality, it is just the fuel that allows me to do the things that I want to do. My goal this year is to learn all the things that I can about food and how my body reacts to it. In the process, I hope to lose a few pounds and have the energy to do all the things that I want to do.

I am in the process of establishing goals for this journey and so many things are racing through my mind. And while I am anxious to post something, I want to think things through so that I really know what I want and how I plan to accomplish the goals. So, my first goal is to publish my goals by the end of the weekend.

If any one comes across my new blog and has suggestions, please feel free to pass along their thoughts on goals for the new year and new decade.
